Central bank of the Czech Republic wants to buy bitcoins

The head of the Czech Republic's central bank recently reiterated statements he made earlier in January, in which he shared plans for the central European country to begin infusing bitcoins, in comments published in the Financial Times on Wednesday.

On Thursday, the Czech National Bank (ČNB) announced that it would begin to analyze the prospects of including additional classes of assets in its reserve, and many indicated that BTC was among them.

"These [Trump] guys can now create some bubble for bitcoin, but I think that the tendency will grow even without them, since this is an alternative [investment] for a large number of people," Mihl said. He admitted that this is a non-traditional step and not without risks.

"After all, if I compare my situation with other bankers, I'm the one who enters the jungle, or the first-timer," said the head of the central bank. «I used to manage an investment fund, like a typical investment banker, I would say. Мне наравится прибыльность».

But he repeated that the purpose of adding Bitcoin is not to go broke, like, for example, the president of Salvador, Najib Bukele. Instead of this, this step will be modest in order to diversify the assets of the Czech bank.

"It's possible that the results will be different: Bitcoin will have zero cost or absolutely fantastic cost... But I'm talking about my goal being to diversify the portfolio, so if Bitcoin is good, I'll take it."

Earlier this month, in an interview with the international affiliate of CNN, Mihl mentioned that the bank is arranging the possibility of purchasing "a few bitcoins".
