Arbitrum's revenue increased by 16,500% after the launch of ZRO LayerZero

Arbitrum's daily revenue increased by 16,500%

The launch of the LayerZero token on June 20 caused a massive increase in Arbitrum's fees, resulting in a record daily blockchain revenue of $3.43 million, up approximately 16,680% from the day before.

LayerZero launched the ZRO token on Thursday, but drew criticism over its mandatory “donation” mechanism, which requires applicants to spend a small amount of money per token in order to receive their allocation.

These mechanisms increased the average gas fee on the blockchain, which reached 89 cents, compared to the usual fee of less than 1 cent. This is what led to a sharp increase in profits for the day to $3.29 million, which became another record for the network, according to data from Dune Analytics and DefiLlama.

LayerZero has made it so that ZRO token applicants must donate a small amount of money for each token. “To receive ZRO, users must donate $0.10 in USD, USDT or native ETH for ZRO,” LayerZero wrote on social media on June 20. It added that the donation is going to Protocol Guild, which helps fund Ethereum developers.

This is Arbitrum's most profitable day since Arbitrum earned $2.13 million on December 14, the day before it went offline due to a surge in online signatures.

Signatures are a type of data formatting that can contain larger batches than simple transaction data such as images, making them expensive due to their size.
