Bitcoin Whales Buy on Price Drop, Accumulate Over 200K BTC in Month

Whales Buy Bitcoins as Price Falls

Over the past few weeks, Bitcoin (BTC), the leading cryptocurrency by market capitalization, has experienced a significant price drop. Its value fell from approximately 99,000to77,000. However, despite this decline, major players known as "whales" have increased their BTC holdings, actively purchasing the cryptocurrency. According to data from the analytics platform CryptoQuant, these high-net-worth investors acquired over 200,000 BTC in the current month alone.

Major Investors Accumulate Bitcoin

The CryptoQuant report focused on Bitcoin holders whose wallets contain at least 1,000 BTC, with these assets acquired less than six months ago. Among these investors are likely both wealthy individuals and institutional players. Since November 2024, these "whales" have purchased over 1 million BTC. Such active accumulation indicates their confidence in Bitcoin's future, despite current price fluctuations.

Impact of Political Events

One of the factors that may have influenced the interest of major investors in Bitcoin was the election of Donald Trump as U.S. president in November 2024. It was during this period that "whales" began actively buying BTC. Since taking office, Trump has confirmed his campaign promises aimed at supporting cryptocurrency and integrating it into the country's economy.

Bitcoin's Prospects

The influx of new capital into Bitcoin could create a strong support level for the cryptocurrency, allowing it to overcome current price levels and reach new heights. Analysts at CryptoQuant suggest that Bitcoin could reach its all-time high of $109,100 and even surpass it if the accumulation trend continues.

Long-Term Holders

In addition to "whales," other long-term investors, such as companies like Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy), Metaplanet, and the government of El Salvador, continue to accumulate BTC. This demonstrates growing interest in Bitcoin as a long-term asset.

Bullish or Bearish Trend?

Despite the optimistic signals, data from the analytics platform IntoTheBlock points to potential risks. An increase in BTC acquisitions by long-term holders is often observed during bear markets. IntoTheBlock warns that this signal is not always reliable and advises investors to consider the possibility of further price declines.
