At the digital technology summit held at the White House, Donald Trump reiterated his promises, previously outlined in an executive order issued on Thursday. He announced the creation of a strategic Bitcoin reserve and emphasized that the U.S. would never sell its Bitcoin holdings.

"Starting today, America will follow a rule that every Bitcoiner knows very well: never sell your Bitcoin," Trump stated during his opening remarks, which were broadcast live. "That's their motto, I don’t know if it’s true or not. Who the hell knows," he added with a touch of irony.

The President also directed Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick to explore ways to acquire additional Bitcoin without increasing the tax burden on citizens. Additionally, a "digital asset reserve" for altcoins was established, though the new executive order does not prohibit the government from selling them nor does it mandate additional purchases to replenish the reserve.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that the government would revoke all previous guidelines related to the tax code and risk assessment of cryptocurrency use. Furthermore, the administration will promote the use of dollar-denominated stablecoins to strengthen the global dominance of the U.S. currency.

Industry leaders present at the roundtable praised the Trump administration's friendly approach to digital assets.

"The U.S. must maintain its leadership in this new financial system," said Sergey Nazarov of Chainlink. "I am pleased to see such initiatives. This is how the U.S. can maintain its key role in the global financial system."

The event was also attended by Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, Gemini co-founders Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, and Strategy founder and executive chairman Michael Saylor.

The main part of the meeting was not publicly broadcast. As David Sacks noted, the roundtable was held in a closed format to facilitate a "substantive discussion."
